Welcome Centre
Built in conjunction with the Pontoon, this has a kiosk and takeaway area, bathroom including disabled facilities, store room and seating area for waiting travellers. A local Tiwi Island artist has been commissioned to paint artwork on the internal walls depicting the landscape and local artifacts and beliefs showcasing the traditions of the Tiwi People.
Undercover seating is also available for visitors to sit and relax and take in the surroundings - watching people fish from the pontoon or foreshore, boats and other travellers coming and going or just enjoying the local landscape.
The Welcome Centre will be open during ferry landing times to and from Darwin for travellers or for special events.
