Our History

Our History

Tiwi Enterprises Pty Ltd was formed in 2007 by the eight Tiwi Landowning Groups to develop economic opportunities and create jobs for Tiwi people. It’s first contract was planting Acacia mangium seedlings on Melville Island for the Tiwi forestry industry.

Over time our operations and business activities expanded and in June 2019 it was decided that the company would transition to become a registered ‘Not for Profit’ company to enable us to better serve our goals. Tiwi Enterprises Ltd was granted registration on the 27th of June 2019. We retain the same Board of Directors who represent the 8 family clans: Malawu, Mirrakawuyunga, Mantiyupwi, Manupi, Jikalaru, Wulirankuwu, Wurankuwu and Yimpanari.
